About Maureen Becker
I am originally from Yankton, South Dakota. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota in Elementary Education with minors in Library Science and Early Childhood Education. My husband Mark and I moved to Midland in 1983. We are the parents of Matt (Emily), Eric (Erica) and Jonathan. I am a proud grandmother to Charlotte Ann and Lucas Allen Becker.
I started teaching at Saint Brigid Catholic School in the fall of 1990 as the fourth grade teacher and continued teaching full time until 1999. I then became a part-time teacher, teaching the Junior Science program and serving as the school librarian. In 2002, I received the American Chemical Society’s Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Elementary-Level Science Education”.
I was Saint Brigid School School principal from 2004 to 2013 during which time the school grew to include the middle school grades.
My family and I have been actively involved in Saint Brigid Parish in many ways through the years. Currently, I am a Lector and a Eucharistic Minister.
